“You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!” -Mark 16:6

The Church of the Nazarene (1908) enjoys a rich history and solid biblical doctrine.  We are mainline Protestant, Christian, and Missional, with organized churches in 160 world areas.  Douglasville First Church of the Nazarene is glad to be a part of this global denomination.

Our Beliefs

We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.
We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.
We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.
We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.
We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.
We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

Our History

The Church of the Nazarene opened its doors to the Douglasville Community in July 1976.

What to Expect

Douglasville First is a warm-hearted, loving kind of church. The style is intimate and a mix of traditional and contemporary. Everybody’s welcome here no matter what stage of faith or walk of life. That said, we have a deep passion that God wants to transform all of us into who He calls us to be.  We have one service that starts with a Sunday School time at 9:45 AM on Sundays. The service time is 10:45 AM.

When you come, you’ll notice that we’re right on Central Church Road where it comes together with Highway 5 (or, if you’re into good ice cream and organic vegetables…across the street from Farmer’s Table!).

As you enter the building through the doors under the awning, you’ll be greeted by some kind people. Straight ahead will be our sanctuary.   On your right and up the stairs is our children’s ministry for ages 4 through 5th grade. Our youth also meet upstairs for ages 6th grade through 12th grade. On your left will be an adult Sunday School classroom. On the other side of the sanctuary to the left is a second adult Sunday School class that would love to have you join. During the service, Children’s Church is offered on the other side of the sanctuary to the right and upstairs in the fellowship hall (which is also where we occasionally serve delicious meals!) If you have children younger than 4, the nursery is near the building entrance, and we’ll have some wonderful volunteers looking forward to caring for them during the service.

During the service, you’ll be able to participate in worship through music. We’ll sing a few songs up front, maybe show a short video and receive an offering. Then, you’ll listen to a meaningful, moving message from the Bible. We may sing another song or two or receive communion. It’s a little different each week, but those elements are pretty typical in our services. The service typically lasts about an hour.

Sundays at Douglasville First Church of the Nazarene are a great start to any week. We hope you’ll join us! We also offer a Sunday night service at 6 PM and a Wednesday night service at 7 PM; this is a great time for us as we dive deeper into scripture and grow deeper in our relationship with Christ. We can’t wait to worship with you soon!
